We have reviewed plans for the above subject project. THE PLANS HAVE BEEN DENIED.
Please have the DESIGNER add appropriate NOTES and DETAILS showing this information and RESUBMIT plans, VIA COUNTY, with an annotated copy of this letter.
ADD NOTE on the plans that these plans are in compliance with California Building and Fire Codes (2010) as amended by the Central Fire Protection District.
ADD NOTE The FDC shall be labeled with the address of the building that it serves, with 2” peal and stick plastic reflective numbers.
ADD NOTE on the plans that the designer/installer shall submit two (2) sets of plans, calculations, and cut sheets for the automatic sprinkler system to this agency for approval. Cut sheets shall include, but not limited to piping, valves, gauges, and sprinkler heads.
ADD NOTE on the plans “All inspector test valves and drain valves must drain to sanitary sewer, oil sand separator, or bio swale. At no time may any of these valves drain to the storm drain system.”
ADD NOTE on the plans that the designer/installer shall submit a minimum of two (2) sets of plans, battery calculations, and cut sheets and CSFM listings for the automatic fire alarm equipment and appurtenances to this agency for approval.
ADD NOTE for fire alarm control unit placement. Best location will be in the Electrical / MPOE room.
ADD NOTE - Occupant notification (mini horns) shall be installed in each residential unit. ADA unit shall be equipped with ADA compliant notification appliances (audio/visual).
ADD a fire extinguisher to the Electrical / MPOE room.
SHOW where the address numbers will be posted and maintained, plainly visible from the street.
ADD NOTE to plans that assigned street address number shall be a minimum of 6” in height and of a color contrasting to their background.
ADD NOTE to plans that assigned suite numbers shall be a minimum of 4” in height and of a color contrasting to their background. Consult with Central Fire District for best location(s) to place. ALL suites with front and rear entrance/access shall have numbers at each door.
SHOW location of KNOX Key Box. The best location will be on the end of the building close to the Electrical / MPOE room.
CORRECT DRAWINGS - A separate tap is required for the new fire hydrant and the fire service. Incorrect installation is shown on pages C4, C5, C6 and C11.
CORRECT DRAWINGS - Use the correct hydrant detail. Please refer to the City of Santa Cruz Water Department’s Standard Detail 10.
ADD the correct detail for the fire service backflow equipment. Please refer to the City of Santa Cruz Water Department’s Standard Detail 9.
ADD NOTE on page M-1 that duct smoke detector will be required for AC-1 (>/=2000 cfm).
ADD NOTE The job copies of the building and fire systems plans and permits must be on-site during inspections.

Based upon a
review of the plans submitted, District requirements appear to have been met,
and PLANS ARE APPROVED FOR PERMIT.
The job copies of the building and fire system plans and
permits must be on-site during inspection.
Upon completion
of the above listed requirements please call the Fire Prevention Division to
set up an appointment for an inspection.
You will be asked for an address and Assessors Parcel Number (APN). A
MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS NOTICE to the fire department is required prior to
inspection.
Submit a check in
the amount of $9,201.60 for this particular plan check, made payable to Central Fire Protection
District. INVOICE MAILED TO OWNER OF
RECORD. Other fees may be incurred. Please contact the Fire Prevention Secretary
for total fees due for your project.
Fire District fees must be paid and a receipt for District fees must be
presented to the County Planning Department before Building Permit issuance. If you should
