(comments from Santa Cruz Metro)

On the site plan A-1.0 I did not see any reference to the bus stop on 17th (you can see where the bus stop location is by the sidewalk zig-zagging out from the street and back – that’s the bus turnout).

With this site being developed, it seems appropriate that this bus stop get upgraded to an ADA-compliant stop with a shelter pad. There is currently only a signpost on the sidewalk; it lacks the 8ft x 5ft ADA-compliant area for a wheelchair landing pad, and there is no space for a shelter. METRO requests that modification of the plans.

Please reference METRO’s bus stop guidelines  pp. 15-16, 41, 44-47.

The sidewalks and the bus pull-out should remain at their existing locations in order to prevent Metro buses from blocking the existing bike lane and the travel lane.
