Encroachments/Driveway Review

 1. Civil drawings will need to be prepared by an engineer to show elevations and driveway contours. 2. The driveway approach must conform to Figure DW-5 of the County of Santa Cruz Design Criteria (See Part 6 Driveways and Encroachments). Please include Figure DW-5 on the plans to facilitate proper construction by the contractor. The design criteria can be found on the internet at: http://www.dpw.co.santa-cruz.ca.us/Portals/19/pdfs/DCDriveways.pdf 3. The frontage needs to be paved to improve the flowline and on street public parking. Asphalt pavement requirements will meet the DW-5 requirements of 2” AC over 6” base rock. The pavement limits should be noted from the road edge to the property line across the entire frontage. Due to the drainage issues in the area, elevations need to be provided on the plans to ensure flowline has adequate fall. 4. All trenching and utilities must be added to the civil drawings. 5. An encroachment permit will be required for all work proposed in the county right-of-way. Before your building application can be approved please submit an encroachment permit application via email to Kristine.conley@santacruzcounty.us with PDF plans (only the sheets showing work in R-O-W) directly to the Department of Public Works, 701 Ocean Street, Room 410. 1) Please address Transportation's comments and other agencies as related to the driveway and access. Once all other agencies reviews are satisfied and final plans for the right of way are decided, encroachments will be able to approve.

2) An encroachment permit will be required for all work proposed in the county right-of-way. Before your building application can be approved please submit an encroachment permit application with plans (only the sheets showing work in R-O-W) directly to the Department of Public Works via email to Kristine.conley@santacruzcounty.us .
