We have reviewed plans for the above subject project and
unfortunately, THE PLANS HAVE BEEN DENIED.
Please have the DESIGNER add appropriate NOTES and
DETAILS showing this information and RESUBMIT plans, VIA COUNTY, with an annotated copy of this letter.
NOTE
on the plans that these plans are in compliance with California Building and
Fire Codes (2019) and Central Fire
District amendments. Current note
sheet A1 doesn’t reference current code cycle.
CORRECT on
plans, the automatic sprinkler note.
This project is in the Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County, not
in Mountain View.
REMOVE on
plans, the note referencing 1” water meter and main sizes. This note is incorrect for this fire and
water district.
REMOVE on
plans, the note on occupancy release.
Again, note references Mountain View, and Central Fire District is not a
city, but a special district. Occupancy
issues is the jurisdiction of the County of Santa Cruz Building Department.
The FIRE FLOW requirement for the subject property is
1000 gallons per minute for 120 minutes.
NOTE on the plans the
REQUIRED and AVAILABLE FIRE FLOW. The
AVAILABLE FIRE FLOW information can be obtained from the water company.
SHOW on the plans a
public fire hydrant, type and location, meeting the minimum required fire flow
for the building, within 600 feet of any portion of the building when the
building is equipped with an automatic fire sprinkler system.
NOTE on the plans
that the building shall be protected by an approved automatic sprinkler system
complying with the edition of NFPA 13D currently adopted in Chapter 35 of the
California Building Code.
NOTE on the plans
that the designer/installer shall submit two (2) sets of plans, calculations,
and cut sheets for the underground and overhead Residential Automatic Sprinkler
System to this agency for approval.
Installation shall follow our guide sheet. Cut sheets shall include, but not limited to
piping, valves, gauges, and sprinkler heads.
NOTE on the plans
that a 30-foot clearance (or to the property line, whichever is closer) will be
maintained with non-combustible vegetation around all structures.

NOTE and SHOW on plans that the driveway shall be a minimum of 12 feet wide, curb to
curb, with no parking. Show on plans the
actual driveway widths without walkways or stairs. In order to have parking on one side the
driveway would have to be a minimum of 20.5 feet wide with no vehicles
protruding into the minimum 12 foot wide area for vehicular traffic, no
exceptions. See Central Fire District
