B-226926 Note to DPW Encroachments: New driveway
1. Driveway shall have 15’ returns.
2. Driveway structural section 2” of asphalt concrete over 6” of aggregate base for first 15 feet or within right of way whichever is greater.
3. Driveway plan view and profile per County Design Criteria.
4. Below are general comments to facilitate the above; use as applicable, check to make sure you’ve covered.
5. Existing Site Plan (separate sheet) shall include but not be limited to: a. North arrow / scale b. Right-of-way boundaries, both sides of road – double dash c. Parcel boundaries – double dash d. Topography e. Utilities f. Features including County roads, striping, private roads, driveways, parking areas, fences g. Please number each existing on-site parking space and show it's boundaries of 8.5 x 18 graphically. h. Provide legend for all hatching, shading, and line types.
6. Proposed Site Plan (separate sheet) shall include but not be limited to: a. North arrow / scale b. Right-of-way boundaries, both sides of road - double dash c. Parcel boundaries – double dash d. Finish grade topography e. Relocated/new utilities f. Proposed improvements i. Reference Figures from County Design Criteria as appropriate ie. driveway and trench details g. Indicate number of required on-site parking spaces on the site plan. h. Please number each on-site parking space and show it's boundaries of 8.5 x 18 graphically. Tandem spaces are required to be in-line. i. Required parking shall be on-site not in right of way. j. Provide legend for all hatching, shading, and line types. k. Show sawcuts
7. For driveway, the plan view and profile/drainage requirements in the County Design Criteria are required to be met. Show driveway profile. See pgs 206-212 for standard driveways (Figure DW-1 through DW-7).
8. Identify on plans which detail shall be used (Figure DW-1 through DW-7).

10. Show proposed paved and concrete areas with different hatch or shading, indicate structural section: a. County right of way: 3” AC over 9” AB b. Private road: 2” AC over 6” AB c. Driveways/parking: 2” AC over 6” AB in ROW required, outside ROW alternative okay, see County Design Criteria d. AC: asphalt concrete, AB:aggregate base
11. Adequate sight distance at the driveway shall be provided based on the design speed of the road.

1. A driveway radius of 15 feet at the encroachment with the County road is acceptable.  The driveway radius of 35 feet proposed is not acceptable.
