1st Routing Comments


The application to rectify an unpermitted awning/trellis has been received by the Stormwater Section of the County of Santa Cruz. The submittal has not been approved, please review and address each of the comments below (all applicants are required to follow the design requirements as outlined in the County of Santa Cruz Design Criteria referred to as the CDC hereon). The CDC can be found on the internet by navigating to County of Santa Cruz Public Works Department, Stormwater, Design Criteria (https://cdi.santacruzcountyca.gov/PublicWorks/FormsDocuments.aspx).

1.      Please provide documentation that demonstrates the concrete slab, and overhang was installed with a previously approved permit or was built prior to establishment of Zone 5 in 1969. If no documentation is provided with the 2nd routing resubmittal, then Zone 5 fees will be assessed on the net increase in permitted impervious area following the Unified Fee Schedule in place at building permit issuance. The fees are currently $1.63 per square foot and are subject to increase based on the amount applicable at permit issuance date.

2.      Please show how runoff from downspouts is conveyed whether through splash blocks or piped to storm drain.

3.      Please provide construction cross-section details for permanent stormwater mitigation features. The details must include all necessary information for the accurate construction of the proposed features.

4.      Please perform a site assessment and add a note to the plans and/or drainage report that states whether there are any existing drainage issues on or near the site and if any drainage issues or adverse impacts to neighboring properties, roadways, or drainage pathways are anticipated resulting from the proposed improvements.

5.      Information submitted in Appendix A threshold Determination form is incorrect. Please input all unpermitted square footage on line F.

After receiving the requested information above, further comments may be made following the resubmittal. The applicant is encouraged to discuss the above comments with the reviewer, Robert Parker, to avoid unnecessary additional routings. An additional review fee shall be applied to all re-submittals starting with the third routing.
