Vacation Check Request Form

If your home is located in the unincorporated area of the county the Sheriffs’ Office will attempt to drive by or check your home while you are away, though factors such as urgent calls and staffing may impact our ability to do so. The information you provide will only be available to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.

Please consider the following recommendation to prepare your home for your absence:

  • Let family and trusted neighbors know you will be away and ask them to report any suspicious activity to the Sheriff at (831) 471-1121.
  • Make sure all doors and windows are locked.
  • Secure or lock gates or fences leading to private areas of the home.
  • Hold mail and newspaper delivery or arrange for pickup while you are away.
  • Designate a caretaker to be contacted in case of emergency.
  • Secure, disable or relocate any firearms you have in the home while you are gone.
