SHERIFF-CORONER

1.   Public hearing held on the 2007-2008 Criminal Justice Administration Fee;

(1) conducted a public hearing on the Santa Cruz County Jail Access Fee to be charged only for certain misdemeanor offenses;

(2) closed public hearing;

(3) accepted and filed report on the revised booking fee policy enacted by Assesmbly Bill 1805;

(4) ADOPTED RESOLUTION NO. 202-2007 approving the Jail Access Fee and revised Booking Fee effective July 1, 2007; with a correction on the last paragraph, on Item No. 1, the Jail Access Fee amount should be $224.12; and

(5) requested the Sheriff's office to work with the Auditor-Controller to establish the Local Detention Facility Revenue Account, and requested the County's funding from the State as required by Assembly Bill 1805

2.   APPROVED DEPARTMENT 25, as recommended by the County Administrative Officer, including the items contained in the Line Item Detail Volume II and the Errata

SHERIFF-CORONER

3.   Approved Department 66 and all associated Index Codes, as recommended by the County Administrative Officer, including items contained in the Line Item Detail Volume II, the Supplemental budget recommendations and the Errata;

(1) accepted and filed report on the Jail Overcrowding;

(2) considered the supplemental financial item for the Probation Department for a $15,000 augmentation to the Friend's Outside contract for the WRAP program;

(3) return in January 2008 with a progress report on Jail Overcrowding; and

(4) approved the increase in revenue for overtime costs in the amount of $30,000 for the SAFE Team Program activities;

(5) with an additional direction that the County Administrative Officer report back on September 11, 2007 on affordable housing for law enforcement officers and other similar professional groups

(2) approved supplemental financial items for the Probation Department on the issue of Jail Overcrowding and incorporated these changes into the 2007-2008 budget;

(3) approved allocation of $200,000 from the County In-lieu Housing Fund to the CAB/Gemma project
