Domestic Violence
Commission
Research and
Development Annual Report Committee
Meeting Minutes
November 10, 2004
Present: Alan
Hiromura, JoAnne Myall, Fred Nohr, Donna Lind, Linda Starn & Joanne De Los
Reyes.
- Meeting
called to order at 12:20.
- Introduction
of committee members.
- There
were no additions, changes or deletions to the agenda.
- There
were no oral communications.
- Minutes
from the June 9, 2004
meeting were reviewed and approved as submitted.
- Schedule
for the calendar year 2004 "Report to the Community" was
reviewed and approved. See attached schedule. The 2004 report will be an update of the
2003 report, which will allow for a shortened time line.
- Comments
regarding 2003 report: Some
agencies are inconsistent in reporting of annoying phone calls, verbal
disturbances, and verbal threats. A
decision needs to be made on how to report in the future, as well as
developing common definitions.
Suggestion was made that the DV Commission send a letter to
agencies about reporting elements to insure consistency for 2005
data. Donna Lind reported that
persons compiling the reports in the agencies are in the process of
meeting to ascertain consistency.
Donna Lind will provide draft of letter for the Commission.
- Cost
for the 2003 report was approximately $2000. For 2004, the estimate is the same,
providing same paper quality is used and print quantity reduced from 1000
to 250. Linda Starn will be working
with the printer to come up with an accurate cost estimate for the next
meeting. A large number of 2003
reports are still available and it is felt that 250 is an adequate number
for distribution.
- New quotes are being solicited for the
2004 report; and the "in memory of" narrative will be updated if
so needed.
- Art
for the 2004 cover was discussed.
Suggestion was made to retain the color and layout scheme from the
2003 report, and use a photo of a
"victim quilt" to be provided by Women's Crisis Support~Defensa
de Mujeres for the cover. Joanne De
Los Reyes will email photo to committee members via Alan Hiromura.
- Preliminary
data for 2004 report was presented.
These numbers need to be reviewed with latest update. Alan will send data to agencies for
verification.
- Alan
Hiromura requested that committee members review the questions included in
the current survey and bring changes, additions or deletions to the next
meeting.
- Schedule
of upcoming committee meetings approved; January 12, February 9, and March 9, 2005.
