MINUTES

1. Call to Order
   Commissioner Laurie McWhorter called the meeting to order. In attendance: Commissioners Kim Austin, Alan Hiromura, Paula Gammel, Linda Starn, and MaryBeth Varcados and Community Member David Rabow. Lisa Gifford was missed.

2. Additions or Deletions to the Agenda

None.

3. Oral Communications from the Community

None.

4. Elect Chair and Vice Chair

L. Starn moved to elect L. McWhorter as Chair, A. Hiromura/unanimous.

P. Gammel moved to elect Lisa Gifford as Vice Chair, L. McWhorter/unanimous.

5. Review Plan

A. Hiromura passed out and reviewed an overview and a brainstorm he created. The handout listed the committee’s objectives, a brainstorm list of agencies to survey, and ideas for survey questions.

6. Brainstorm what we want to do

Committee members will read/review the San Diego and Santa Clara County Annual Reports, talk with their designated agencies, and review A. Hiromura’s handouts. Committee members will use that information to add/delete from Hiromura’s list or create their own list of: agencies to survey, a list of the information they would like to have in the annual report, and an explanation of how that information would assist the Commission to evaluate the success of DV efforts in SC County. Committee members will bring this information to the June 19^th meeting.

Committee members volunteered to contact the following agencies listed in Hiromura’s handout:

Kim Austin: all law enforcement

David Rabow: DA’s office, courts

Linda Starn: all the hospitals

Paula Gammel: Probation and treatment centers

Laurie McWhorter: Walnut Avenue, WCS~DdM

7. Announcements

8. Adjournment/Next meeting

The next meeting will be June 19, 5:30PM at the CPVAW office, 915 Cedar Street, in Santa Cruz. The chair adjourned the meeting at 7:05PM.
