PURPOSE:
To allow eligible candidates who have been tested for a class that has been determined to be comparable to be considered for appointment.

Civil Service Rule V.R.

POLICY:
- When a request for certification is received where there is no list, or a list of less than three names, the analyst for the department may suggest that the department consider alternate eligible or employment lists that may exist, if appropriate.
- Certifications will be prepared for those lists that the departments agree would be appropriate for the position.
- If there are no alternate lists available, or if the department does not wish to consider the alternate list, the analyst will conduct a recruitment/examination process for the class of the vacant position.
