PURPOSE:
To
outline the method used to develop the annual charges to departments for the
Unem-
ployment
Insurance Program.
POLICY:
The
annual departmental charges are based on departmental experience over the
previous
three
fiscal years.
PROCEDURE:
After
the close of the prior fiscal year, the Risk Management Division of the Person-
nel
Department computes the departmental totals for unemployment insurance costs
over
the
past three fiscal years and calculates each department's percentage of the
three-
year
totals. The Personnel Accounting
Division then applies these percentages to the
projected
departmental charge for the upcoming fiscal year, to determine each depart-
ment's
share of the total charge. These
figures are provided to departments as part
of the
budget packet used to develop departmental budgets for the coming fiscal year.
