SECTION 310 - USE OF COUNTY
GASOLINE CREDIT CARDS
The County provides Gasoline credit cards
for use by its drivers under the following conditions:
A. Gasoline
credit cards are to be used for fueling County vehicles only. If at all possible,
fuel shall be obtained at a County operated facility since that fuel was
purchased at a considerable savings.
B. Gasoline credit cards shall not be
used for the purchase of fuel within the County of Santa Cruz except for those
Sheriff’s patrol deputies who are unable to access County fuel facilities
during their shift.
County gasoline credit cards
shall not be used to obtain service on a non-County vehicle, even if on County
business.
D. Gasoline credit cards are to be used
for self-service regular grade gas and oil purchases only, and are not provided for car
washing, parking, regular servicing, etc.
E. When
using a County vehicle for business outside of Santa Cruz County, a County
gasoline credit card may be issued to cover expenses for gasoline and oil. This
card may also be used for minor emergency service repairs necessary for safe,
legal and/or proper operation of the vehicle, such as head or tail lights,
windshield wipers, battery charge
or replacement, tire repair or other
essential mechanical parts and service. Each driver must use his/her judgment as
to the necessity of charging repairs to the credit card. As a general
guideline, if repairs are substantial in time and cost, the driver should seek
repair authorization from Fleet Services or leave the vehicle at as safe a
location as possible and notify Fleet Services as soon as possible during
regular business hours. If a problem arises during regular business hours and
the driver is in doubt as to proper procedure, Fleet Services should be
contacted for guidance.
