PURPOSE:

To establish criteria for the co-mingling eligible lists.

POLICY:

  1. New eligible lists may be co-mingled with existing eligible lists if:

    1. The exam plan for the existing eligible is determined to be parallel to the exam plan for the new eligible list.

    2. The life of the new eligible list is determined to be the same as the life of the existing eligible lists (See Policy V.2.D. Life of Eligible List). An eligible list can not exist where eligibles have different periods of eligibility, that is, co-mingled eligibles will ALL have a 6 month, 12 month, 18 month or 24 month eligibility period from the point they are established to the list.

  2. If the above criteria are not met, the existing eligible list will be reviewed for abolishment. (See Policy V.2.F. Abolishing Eligible Lists)

  3. Establishment of a separate and apart eligible list (side-by-side list), where there is an existing valid eligible list will only occur where there are compelling management needs and must be approved by the Personnel Director.
