PURPOSE:

To allow eligible candidates who have been tested for a class that has been determined to be comparable to be considered for appointment.

POLICY:

  1. When a request for certification is received where there is no list, or a list of less than three names, the analyst for the department may suggest that the department consider alternate eligible or employment lists that may exist, if appropriate.

  2. Certifications will be prepared for those lists that the departments agree would be appropriate for the position.

  3. If there are no alternate lists available, or if the department does not wish to consider the alternate list, the analyst will conduct a recruitment/examination process for the class of the vacant position.
